This fall, visitors across the United States and Canada are finding something unexpected in cornfields: enormous portraits of Dolly Parton carved into giant corn mazes.According to The Associated Press, 20 farms are taking part in the tribute, with mazes spread across roughly a dozen states and two Canadian provinces.
The designs feature Parton’s recognizable appearance, and many locations are adding themed trivia, photo opportunities and other activities for visitors.
The project had actually been planned months before Parton’s death, but her passing on August 25 gave the tribute a deeper meaning. The organizers are also using the campaign to support Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which provides free books to children.
