Long before the world knew Dolly Parton as a country music legend, she was simply one of 12 children growing up in a crowded home in the mountains of East Tennessee.
At the youngest end of that remarkable family was Rachel Parton George.
Born in 1959, Rachel grew up surrounded by brothers, sisters, music, faith and the humble Appalachian traditions that would eventually become such an important part of Dolly’s identity.
While Dolly went on to achieve worldwide fame, Rachel developed her own relationship with entertainment while remaining closely connected to the family that shaped them both.
