<\/p>\nFor most of his life, Jackson wanted the same simple thing many dogs want: to be wherever his family was.<\/p>\n

Room to room, upstairs and downstairs, the Yellow Labrador followed the people he loved.<\/p>\n
But as Jackson reached 15 years old, something that had once been simple became increasingly difficult.<\/p>\n
He had hip dysplasia, and climbing stairs was no longer an easy part of everyday life. For an elderly dog dealing with painful hips, following his family between floors had become a challenge. <\/p>\n
His family found another way.<\/p>\n
During renovations to their South Carolina home, the family installed a small residential elevator.<\/p>\n
The elevator wasn\u2019t originally created exclusively for Jackson. It was installed so the homeowners would also be able to move more easily between floors as they grew older.<\/p>\n
But in the meantime, it became perfect for their beloved senior Labrador. \u2764\ufe0f<\/p>\n
Videos shared by family member Logan showed Jackson calmly sitting inside the transparent tube-shaped elevator as it carried him between floors.<\/p>\n
Instead of struggling with the stairs, Jackson could ride.<\/p>\n
Instead of being left behind downstairs, he could continue spending time near his family.<\/p>\n
And according to Logan, Jackson wasn\u2019t frightened of his unusual ride.<\/p>\n
After some viewers wondered whether the dog was scared inside the elevator, she explained that he actually loved using it and would readily get inside. <\/p>\n
The videos quickly touched people online.<\/p>\n
But perhaps the reason Jackson\u2019s story resonated with so many people had little to do with the elevator itself.<\/p>\n
It was about what the elevator represented.<\/p>\n
For years, Jackson had adjusted his life around his family.<\/p>\n
When age finally made that difficult, his family adjusted their home so he could remain close to them.<\/p>\n
Dogs don\u2019t ask for expensive things.<\/p>\n
They don\u2019t care what kind of house we live in or what car we drive.<\/p>\n
For many of them, simply being beside the people they love is enough.<\/p>\n
Jackson\u2019s family understood that.<\/p>\n
And during his senior years, a little elevator helped make sure that painful stairs didn\u2019t keep him away from his favorite people.<\/p>\n
